Three days in Granada and Sierra Nevada: culture, tapas and mountains

A three-day programme linking the Alhambra, the lanes of the Albaicín, evening tapas and a day at altitude. Designed for a group that wants both the city and the mountains.

Snow-covered Sierra Nevada rising above Granada

Day 1: arrival and the Albaicín

Arrival in Granada and settling in the city centre. In the late afternoon, climb up to the Albaicín: its whitewashed lanes, small squares and views of the Alhambra set the tone for the stay.

On the first evening, a tapas walk through the centre is a good way to taste the city. In many bars a tapa comes free with each drink: a beer, a glass of wine or a soft drink.

Day 2: the Alhambra and the city

Visit to the Alhambra in the time slot booked in advance: the Nasrid Palaces, the Generalife and its gardens, the Alcazaba. Morning is the best time, before the heat and the crowds.

Lunch in the centre, then free time in the streets around the cathedral. In the evening, a flamenco show, a tradition that remains very much alive in the Sacromonte quarter.

Day 3: Sierra Nevada

Transfer to the resort, 40 to 50 minutes by road. In winter, ski lessons, slopes and snowshoeing; the rest of the year, the resort also offers mountain activities. Participants who do not ski can go snowshoeing or sledging.

Back in the city late in the afternoon, for a closing dinner in the centre.

Adapting the programme

The programme is adjusted to available time slots, the season and the profile of the group. If the Alhambra is fully booked on the date you want, the order of the days can be swapped.

In summer, the day at altitude is especially welcome after Granada's hot afternoons. In winter, placing the snow day early in the stay leaves room to adapt if conditions are difficult.

Frequently asked questions

Is this programme better for a sporty group or a cultural one?

Both. The programme alternates calm visits, walks and a day of activity at altitude, with options at different levels for each participant.

Which season is best for the mountain day?

Winter, for skiing and snow, from late November to early May depending on conditions. The rest of the year the resort offers other mountain activities, and the programme adapts.

Can this programme be done without a car?

Yes. We arrange the transfer to the resort, by coach or private vehicle. The Alhambra and the Albaicín are reached on foot from the centre, though the Albaicín is steep.
