Casa Alberto

Casa Alberto is a tavern opened in 1827 in the Barrio de las Letras, on Calle de las Huertas. The building stands on the site of the house where Cervantes lived, and the place still carries his memory. The menu draws on traditional Madrid cooking with a contemporary touch: braised oxtail, Madrid-style tripe, cod, and a house vermouth. Upstairs, the original fittings (zinc counter, onyx bar, old cash register) give the room its character. It is a perfect spot for an aperitif or a relaxed team dinner, in the heart of the literary quarter.
